Welcome
My name is Sian Leone Williams. I am an MBACP (Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Accredited counsellor / psychotherapist with over 17 years experience. I have also provided supervision for counsellors / psychotherapists and supportive supervision for those employees working mainly in front line services for over fourteen years. I work from my own consulting rooms in Mold, Flintshire which is also accessible to Chester, Wrexham, Prestatyn, St Asaph, Llandudno etc.
My aim is to provide every client with a non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment in which to explore their issues. You may struggle with depression, anxiety, stress, or feel stuck, confused, frustrated or really overwhelmed right now and have no idea what to do about it, but we can work together to change that. Among other things, this may mean developing effective coping strategies, seeking to develop a better understanding of yourself and how you relate to others, learning to manage emotions or finding acceptance. Where there is a desire for something different, we all have the capacity to change and to find a way forward towards a life which is better suited to us.
None of us are exempt from struggling at some point in our life with our psychological well-being. Many people I have worked with have commented that; “I am not as strong as I thought I was.” ……….. Strength is not what this is about. Sometimes too much has or is happening in our life and we are exhausted from battling to find a way forward. Remember that whilst we may even perceive some issues are common place e.g. we hear about them and their impact on people constantly in the press etc, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, this does not mean they are easily managed. Therapy can help you find a solution that works for you, a solution that will enable you to find a way forward to a more productive and fulfilled life.
The models of therapy used
I would describe myself as an integrative psychotherapist in that I have been trained in several therapeutic approaches (see About Me for a list of my qualifications) and will adapt these in the best interest of my client. My formative training was in Person-Centred Therapy and the core conditions of of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence underpin all my work.
I went on to train in other therapies; MSc CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Certificate in TA (Transactional Analysis), Solution Focused Therapy, Diploma in Therapeutic Hypnotherapy and in more recent years, ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy).
Where an individual requires a specific approach is used, either for therapy or supervision, I am able to ensure that it is provided.
